The Village

Courmayeur is a charming, elegant village, lying directly under the Monte Bianco (Mont Blanc). Far less hectic than Chamonix — its French counterpart — at the head of the Aosta Valley, its two-side valleys — the Val Veni and Val Ferret — provide the sources of the Dora Baltea River which parallels the Rhone to the north. Courmayeur is a major stopping point on the Tour du Mont Blanc and attracts a great variety of expert Alpinists, seasoned hikers, and less active vacationers who come simply to enjoy the spectacular scenery.

The Hotel

L'Auberge de la Maison is a stunning hotel, situated in the beautiful hamlet of Entrevès. Just ten minutes by shuttle bus or hotel bus, it nevertheless is an oasis of calm and tranquility. It oofers swimming, a spa, a friendly bar and public rooms, a lovely dining romm with a menu both varied and tasty. A special treat is to dine out for breakfast of dinner. The friendly staff is eager to please, and our groups love this four-star country inn.

The Hikes

There are four climbing huts — Elisabetta, Bertone, Bonatti, and Elena — each of which is easily reached by hikers. Long traverses in the Val Veni and Val Ferret provide extraordinary views. The terrain is varied and the trails extremely well maintained. While each of the huts serve lunch, we also try to have picnics as well.

When You're Not Hiking

Most are happy to ride the main lift (there are three stages) to enjoy the high Alpine scenery. Equally enjoyable is a visit to the old Roman section of Aosta. A sizable city, Aosta lies at the Italian foot of the Great Saint Bernard Pass. It's an easy trip from Courmayeur.
